Bio
Lucy Godwin embraces the urgency of acrylics and the flexibility of
mixed media as her process is often alla prima. Her paintings are transmitted
through a resolution of intuitive consciousness and stimulation from mass
media. She strives to achieve a trans-cultural visual language, so Lucy’s
work often contains encryptions and symbols as comments on societal inequalities.
Lucy Godwin shows at the GALERÍA MóNICA SAUCEDO in Colima,
Mexico and at GrafittiCo. Studio Gallery and other venues in
Vancouver, Canada.
Lucy's latest solo show
Skulls & Skeletons ALIVE opens on November 1, 2011 at The Silk Purse
Gallery, West Vancouver and closes November 13.
Lucy’s group exhibition Cinco Arti5tas
received coverage from Mexican TV and radio. More info -see Exhibitions tab.

of the Saatchi Gallery here in London. Whilst searching the web I came upon
your web site and was impressed by the high standard of work."

"Lucy, you have an exciting, energetic raw and edgy feel
to your work that I see fitting in here in New York."
Renée Phillips, Editor-in-Chief Manhattan Arts International 1983-2000. Member, International Association of Art Critics and Curator 50+ New York City exhibitions
"Lucy’s paintings resonate with
energy and immediacy. Lucy has achieved the rich depth of emotions on her canvasses through combining
her artistic vision, her mastery of the techniques and her integrity by working from the very core of her creative
process. Evident in her paintings is a wild and wise child dancing between the
chaos and joy of life."
Laara WilliamSen, Curator of 96 art exhibitions, Art Critic, Author of Art

"Lucy has really captured
the essence of Basquiat but have put so much of her own work into it. It is
really screaming with energy. I could very easily see her pieces one day
becoming museum pieces. Very easily." Luke
Gillaim Studios, artist and curator, Bath, England. July 2, 2010
